In Georgia, a biological father has no legal rights to their child unless the father marries the mother of the child or legitimizes the child.
Signing the birth certificate alone does NOT provide a biological father any legal rights to his child. This means the child loses many rights to inherit from his father and vice versa. Further, the biological father does not have a legal right to custody or visitation until the child is legitimized.
