In Georgia, a biological father has no legal rights to their child unless the father marries the mother of the child or legitimizes the child.

Signing the birth certificate alone does NOT provide a biological father any legal rights to his child.  This means the child loses many rights to inherit from his father and vice versa.  Further, the biological father does not have a legal right to custody or visitation until the child is legitimized.

Attorney Shalamar J. Parham is experienced in all of these areas of divorce and family law. Please contact Parham Law Firm today at 678-439-1482 with any questions or to set up a consultation.
